Celebrate Rinpoche's 85th birthday at this auspicious event.
Lama Wangdu Rinpoche, a Chod master and a lineage holder of Padampa Sangye's Shije tradition, will offer an empowerment and teachings on the Chod practice called "Bellowing Laugh of the Dakinis". This is a rare opportunity to train with a recognized master and yogi in this ancient teaching.
A powerful practice for cutting through one's fearful preoccupation with self, Chod expresses the heart of the Buddhist Mahayana teachings on compassion. Chod is practiced in all of the Tibetan Buddhist lineages and is especially important in Rinpoche's Nyingma tradition.
In addition to receiving permission to perform the practice and connection with the Chod Lineage, retreatants will be instructed in the use of the Chod instruments and learn the melodies sung by Chodpas since the 11th century time of Padampa Sangye and Machik Labdron.
About Lama Wangdu Rinpoche
Rinpoche was born in the Tingri region of Tibet in 1936. While in his teens, he received transmission for Chod, the Longchen Nyingthig and other teachings from his root lama, Naptra Rinpoche. He has completed the traditional 108 charnel grounds retreat and spent many years practicing Chod in the wild places of Tibet, India and Nepal.
In 2001, after HH Dalai Lama asked him to preserve the Chod and Shije teachings and train a new generation of practitioners he founded Pal Gyi Dingri Langkor Gonpa in Kathmandu.
Rinpoche is known throughout Nepal, Tibet and China as an accomplished, compassionate and generous lama, yogi, teacher and healer. To learn more about him, visit lamawangdu.org or read his biography, One Hundred Thousand Rays of the Sun.
